National Marketing Manager

Our client is a local boutique advertising agency and is looking for a National Marketing Manager to join their team! This role leads the advertising activities and message delivery for our client's client(s). You will collaborate with peers and teammates to ensure activities are on strategy and on brand.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, you will lead and oversee the team of Marketing Managers in developing, executing, and tracking strategic marketing and media plans for designated markets.

This position is hands-on with directly managing activities for designated markets as well as management and mentorship of a team.

The ideal candidate has a well-rounded background including a blend of client-side media and account management experience with the ability to maintain sight of the big picture while working on fine details.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide guidance and strategy for traditional and non-traditional advertising activities that elevate and protect the brand
  • Challenge the status quo and inspire constant fresh thinking and innovation
  • Promote continual team improvement and actively contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, excellence, and accountability
  • Collect and analyze market data
  • Stay abreast of market and industry activities and trends
  • Manage advertising and marketing activities for designated markets (including Portland)
  • Target key demographics and develop media campaigns
  • Identify key opportunities and events that align with the target audience
  • Negotiate ad space and airtime rates with vendors
  • Develop media plans that best-fit clients’ needs
  • Create and place ad schedules and adjust when appropriate
  • Ensure ad quality and placement are aligned with campaign objectives
  • Track ad money spent and return on investment
  • Travel to markets to meet with partners and gain a deeper understanding of business and opportunities
  • Teach and demonstrate tactics and behaviors and hold team members accountable
  • Work with cross-functional partners to support the communication needs of all business units ensuring alignment of delivering the message to the appropriate audiences
  • Collaborate with departments across the organization
  • Work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Set and maintain high standards for consistency and cohesiveness

Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience with traditional and digital advertising
  • Minimum 5 years of experience directly managing and mentoring
  • Strong background in using media analytics tools
  • Superior negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and organize multiple projects
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Project management and planning skills.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and execute a multifaceted plan

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, or a similar field
