We are searching for a full-time Staff Industrial Designer for our robotics client based in Corvalis, Oregon. The Staff Industrial Designer will report to the Industrial Design Lead and will be responsible for creating and refining the surfacing of products and assisting in the development and refinement of the product’s design language to best suit the organization’s vision. This is a hybrid role requiring some in-person time, at least monthly, at their offices in Corvalis and/or Tangent, Oregon. A portfolio must be provided to be considered for this position.


As a Staff Industrial Designer, you will:

  • Build a deep understanding of the product and its design to enable thoughtful concepts

  • Work with engineering and creative teams to refine and spec system architecture, robot skeleton

  • Sketch design concepts for our robots that elegantly capture our vision for them, their character, and their engineering requirements

  • Create 3d concepts and surfacing to evaluate feasibility and packaging constraints

  • Create presentations to convey design concepts to stakeholders and refine them from relevant feedback

  • Create production stable surfacing in creo following CAD best practices

  • Assist in creating part breakup concepts and assist the handoff of surfacing and design intent to engineering teams.

  • Assist engineering teams to continually refine production surfacing and brainstorm / integrate small details

  • Enable a positive, collaborative and productive work environment that welcomes new ideas and encourages out of the box thinking

  • A high-performer with outstanding communication skills and deep respect and caring for others.

  • Strong creative and organizational skills through the steps of the ID process; decomposing requirements through creating production surfacing.

  • Ability to create thoughtful designs that satisfy company vision

  • Understanding of basic manufacturing constraints of metals, plastics, etc.

  • Experience developing design language and production surfacing for products containing mechanical systems, ideally moving parts (CAD experience)

  • Experience working with engineering teams in a cross-functional environment

  • Skilled in presenting and explaining concepts, refining them from feedback 

  • 4-7 years of relevant experience working as an industrial designer

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

  • Be on-site at the client’s design facility as needed regular 20 - 40% onsite in Tangent, OR

Salary - $120,000-$150,000 per year base salary plus equity
