Sr. Product Designer

Portland, OR
Senior Product Designer

As a Senior Product Designer, you will be joining a small team of product designers for a national company in their local Portland Office. As a Product Designer you will work with product teams to conceptualize designs and bring them to life with UX thinking, visual design, copywriting, and prototyping.

This is a full-time, Direct Hire role

Your Responsibilities
  • Work with Design, Product, and Engineering to produce production-ready designs with the necessary documentation for development.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team (both remotely, and on-location) in real-time and asynchronously to inform your designs, and QA design work as it’s built.
  • Work with our Product team to run usability tests, then iterate upon our designs with the information we learn.
  • Ability to bring a systems-thinking mentality to your work – understanding the intersections and overlap of features across our product, and being able to maintain consistency across our visual design, interaction patterns, and UI copywriting.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years designing for products, including responsive web apps, native apps, or something similar.
  • You have an online portfolio that demonstrates the following:
o   Problem-solving abilities. Your work should display your approach to seeking to fully understand a problem and your approach to crafting a reasoned and elegant solution for it.
o   UX thinking. You can make seemingly-complex things seem simple, more-efficient, and approachable.
o   Strong visual and interface design skills. Your work should demonstrate a knowledge of accessibility best practices, using (or developing) design systems, and understanding the difference between desktop and mobile interactions.
  • High level of proficiency with Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and Invision (our core design stack).
  • You’re comfortable moving quickly and working in an agile process.

Bonus Skills
  • Animation or prototyping with motion
  • Front end skills (HTML/CSS) – you won’t be writing production-level code.
  • Illustration skills
  • Familiarity with the Agile process
  • Experience working on 2-sided platforms
