Our client in the nonprofit space is searching for an Executive Director to join their team. The Executive Director reports to the Trustee and is responsible for the daily operations and strategic direction of the organization and its entities inspired by our client’s vision, mission, and values designed to empower creative youth to imagine and achieve their artistic, educational, and professional dreams. In this role, you will provide leadership and oversee the management of all departments, including programmatic, fundraising, communication, administration, and community engagement. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity based in Portland.
Operations & Strategic Planning
Manage all areas of the Foundation’s strategy and day-to-day internal and business operations with growth and impact to ensure programs and related activities are successful, sustainable, mission-aligned, charitable purpose, and 501c3 obligations
Lead, manage, and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, including building, developing, and sustaining new and existing relationships, supporters, and donors
Be a strategic planner and thinker with the ability to provide knowledge and steer the organizations towards a sustainable future
Ensure that organizational systems, structures, policies, and practices are conducted in an ethical, cost-effective, legal, and efficient manner
Development and Partnerships
Cultivate, develop, and implement major gift-giving efforts/campaigns from corporations, foundations, the public, individuals, and event/rental revenue
Ability to maintain community and professional relationships to enhance growth knowledge in higher education and philanthropy while deepening partnerships with like-minded nonprofits, artists, and professionals
Guide and support the people and teams responsible for developing healthy operations and infrastructure
Establish a culture of excellence and continuous learning and development
Program Oversight
Oversee all programs including, but not limited to; workshops, scholarships, internships, mentorships, and artist-in-residence
Lead, manage and oversee all areas of marketing, copywriting, copy editing, promotional material, and presentations, including all strategic communications, and brand development
Provide oversight for grant writing, outreach, compiling data, letters of support, visual material, and reports that support the organization
Ability to utilize donor management platforms (NeonCRM) to implement and maintain data-driven development while maintaining student, donor, and stakeholder communication, data, and contact lists with confidentiality
Manage and develop the annual operating budget with the Trustee, finance, and accounting counsel while demonstrating sound financial judgment through the organization’s programmatic health
Ensure appropriate IRS filings and tax obligations are complete on time and accurately
Management and maintenance of building and recording studio housed within it
Who we’re searching for:
3-5 years of experience, previously served in an Executive Director or leadership roles, specifically marketing
2-3 years of fundraising experience with a non-profit organization or educational institution, or a comparable mix of work experience and education
Experience in major gifts fundraising, grant writing, donor cultivation, solicitation, planned giving, events and donor stewardship and relationships from corporations, foundations, local businesses, public, individuals, and event revenue
Ability to maintain community and professional relationships to enhance growth knowledge in higher education and philanthropy
Commitment to fostering an inclusive donor community, where people of all identities are represented and feel welcome
Experience managing staff, interns, young people, or students with mentoring or social work experience is a plus
Passionate about the arts and education as a catalyst for empowering youth and changing lives with a strong understanding of Portland's nonprofit arts and education landscape is appreciated
2-3 years of professional experience designing and/or leading educational arts programming directly with middle and/or high school youth, preferably including those from low-income or marginalized communities, in a creative or educational setting
Ability to work flexible hours in accordance with event and production schedules
Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Keynote, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Google Drive, NeonCRM, social media platforms, etc.

Salary / Pay range:
$90,000-$120,0000/ Year, depending on experience
